About this role

The Vice President, Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (DCISO) – Evernorth is a senior cybersecurity leader within The Cigna Group’s Technology organization. This role serves as the CISO for Evernorth with ownership of the Security Architecture & Engineering function as a shared enterprise service. It ensures cybersecurity capabilities protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability across a complex, regulated environment.

The leader advises Evernorth and enterprise executives on cyber risk, resilience, and security investments. Responsibilities include embedding security into technology solutions to enable business innovation and delivery at speed. This highly visible role partners closely with executives to address cybersecurity priorities through enterprise-wide standards.

Reporting directly to the SVP, Global Chief Information Security Officer (GCISO), the DCISO maintains a dotted-line to CIO leadership. As an active member of the Enterprise CISO Council (ECC), it contributes to enterprise cybersecurity strategy, standards, and maturity. The role oversees how enterprise services address Evernorth-specific risks and regulatory obligations.

Leadership spans enterprise and Evernorth cybersecurity, including risk from mergers and integrations. It coordinates during significant cyber events and drives secure-by-design principles across applications, platforms, infrastructure, and cloud. This position fosters proactive risk mitigation in the technology delivery lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Executive leadership in cybersecurity risk management and strategy execution
  • Deep expertise in security architecture standards and reference architectures for regulated environments
  • Experience leading security engineering teams delivering enterprise-wide capabilities
  • Proven ability to align security with cloud, infrastructure, and emerging technologies
  • Strong track record partnering with C-level executives on cyber risk and investments
  • Knowledge of embedding security in complex technology delivery lifecycles
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory requirements like HIPAA and compliance frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the CISO for Evernorth, accountable for overall cybersecurity posture and material cyber risk outcomes
  • Act as trusted advisor to Evernorth executive leadership on cybersecurity risk, resilience, and security investment priorities
  • Lead the Security Architecture & Engineering function, including strategy, operating model, talent, and enterprise delivery outcomes
  • Set enterprise-aligned direction for secure-by-design principles across applications, platforms, infrastructure, cloud, and emerging technologies
  • Establish and govern security architecture standards, reference architectures, design patterns, and guardrails
  • Embed security architecture early in the technology delivery lifecycle to proactively identify and mitigate risk
  • Oversee cybersecurity risk related to mergers, acquisitions, and integrations
  • Contribute to enterprise cybersecurity strategy through participation in the Enterprise CISO Council (ECC)
