Join the App & API Security team responsible for continuous research and development of the Akamai Web Application Firewall. We serve thousands of large enterprise customers. Lead data science aspects in the product within a multidisciplinary research team.
Develop and maintain models and agents while adding innovation and advanced models. Create DS tools to provide insights and analysis of web security attacks. Work on end-to-end projects from concept to deployment.
Collaborate with engineering and product partners on prototypes of statistical and machine learning algorithms. Develop agentic systems to enhance detections and guide engineering implementations of autonomous security agents. Work closely with security researchers to integrate expertise into models.

Requirements
- B.S.C. degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience in Data Science
- Knowledge in data science (pandas, PySpark, etc.), machine learning (sparkML, sklearn, PyTorch, etc.)
- Experience deploying and maintaining machine learning and generative AI systems in production, including agent-based frameworks and monitoring pipelines
- Experience in building evaluation pipelines to measure the performances and reliability of production models
- Experience in working with cloud notebook environments
Responsibilities
- Lead and collaborate on end-to-end projects across the team and with engineering and product partners, from initial concept through to final deployment
- Develop working prototypes of statistical/machine learning-based algorithms, evaluating and comparing metrics based on real-world data sets
- Develop agentic systems to enhance detections and research paths
- Guide engineering implementations of autonomous security agents
- Work closely with security researchers to combine subject matter expertise into the models
- Work to integrate security research learnings into the product
- Innovate in the web security research and data science space
- Provide DS expertise to the wider Akamai web security research group
